There's a ballet that, for us dancers, embodies the spirit of Christmas more than any other, and every year, when Tchaikovsky's first notes fill the air, we feel a thrill that runs from head to toe: "The Nutcracker". It's as if its notes were the soundtrack to our childhood, a dream that is renewed every year.

This year, the magic returns to Teatro alla Scala, staging Nureyev's choreography.

There's something magically Christmasy about Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" that transports us, year after year, to an enchanted world. Its notes accompany us during the holidays, reminding us of the importance of family, friendship, and the magic of Christmas.

It all begins in Drosselmeyer's workshop, an eccentric toymaker, where little Clara receives a wooden nutcracker as a gift. It is thanks to his magic wand and his creativity that Christmas night turns into an unforgettable adventure.

 

A Magical Portal to an enchanted World...

At the center of the story, the Christmas tree becomes the portal to an enchanted world. It is the symbol of the party, the family reunited, and the expectation of a miracle.

The nutcracker, transformed into a beautiful prince, is the most precious gift Clara could receive. A gift that goes beyond the material object, representing friendship and love.

The abundant falling snow creates a magical and enchanted atmosphere, typical of winter nights.

Secrets of Drosselmeyer's Workshop

Drosselmeyer, with his workshop full of wonders and his mysterious air, is the true architect of the magic that envelops the story. It is he who gives Clara the nutcracker and opens the doors to a fairy tale world, where anything is possible.
