In a year where dance becomes a dialogue between past and present, DellaLo’ Milano is honoured to continue its collaboration with Alberta Ballet, contributing to Nijinsky — a production that reimagines the legacy of Vaslav Nijinsky through a contemporary lens.
The 2025-26 season’s Nijinsky presents four original choreographies inspired by the revolutionary figure who transformed modern ballet. From Afternoon of a Faun and Petrushka to Firebird, Alberta Ballet invites audiences to rediscover the language of movement, innovation and expression — themes that resonate deeply with the philosophy of DellaLo’ Milano.
A Partnership Rooted in Ballet
For DellaLo’ Milano, creating for the stage means more than designing costumes. It is an act of dialogue — between craftsmanship and choreography, fabric and gesture, tradition and performance.
The atelier’s relationship with the ballet world has always been intimate: born from the experience of its founder Lorella Ferraro, a former ballerina of Teatro alla Scala, who understands that what a dancer wears shapes not only the look but also the emotion of a performance.
This connection naturally evolved into a collaboration with Alberta Ballet that extends beyond studio wear to the very moment when dancers step on stage.
Lorella Ferraro and “Firebird”: The Geometry of Motion
For Firebird the new creation of Kirsten Wicklund, part of the Nijinsky programme, Lorella Ferraro collaborated closely with Alberta Ballet’s Artistic Director Francesco Ventriglia to create costumes that would reflect both the strength and vulnerability of movement. Her background as a dancer became an essential key to interpreting the needs of the performers — balancing structure, comfort, and visual power.
The result is a costume defined by geometric lines and a refined play of contrasts between deep bordeaux lycra and nude tulle. The design embodies both clarity and sensuality, evoking the modernist energy of Nijinsky while maintaining the elegance of Italian couture.
In specific moments of the ballet, the look evolves with dark bordeaux tulle skirts and a cape — elements shared by both male and female dancers — amplifying the visual rhythm and creating layers of translucency that follow every lift, turn and extension.
Each costume becomes an extension of the choreography: it moves, breathes and transforms with the dancer, celebrating the fusion of technical precision and artistic soul.

Beyond Firebird: A Broader Craftsmanship
In addition to Firebird, DellaLo’ Milano’s atelier crafted the lycra costumes for “Petrushka”, the "Puppets People", and the base bodies for “The Demon” and “The Darling.” Every piece was tailored in the Milan atelier, blending handmade precision with a dancer’s perspective on performance needs.

A Shared Pursuit of Excellence
This partnership with Alberta Ballet encapsulates DellaLo’s mission: to accompany dancers in every moment of their journey — from daily training to the stage. It represents the intersection of couture and movement, where craftsmanship serves expression and design becomes emotion.
Through Nijinsky, Alberta Ballet and DellaLo’ Milano celebrate the timeless artistry of dance — proving that when costume and choreography speak the same language, the stage becomes pure poetry.
